- 19 years of caring for parish and people

Parish Holidays is something very special. In the States it has been called the ultimate in person-to-person vacations. Forget the package holiday, the impersonal hotel : Parish Holidays invites you to come and enjoy a week in England, being treated as a member of the family in an English home.

We in Britain are famous for our heritage, and an integral part of the life of every community is the parish church, which has been there for many hundreds of years. The town and village communities, which have grown up over the centuries, now invite you to share in a very special way in preserving them for future generations.

Parish Holidays exists to support the restoration and ongoing repair of these ancient buildings. For a week you are invited to share in the life of an English Parish, experiencing first hand local traditions, customs and all the close familiarity of village life, as well as exploring the locality and getting to know the people. All profits go directly to maintain the church building.

What’s on offer

Everything is included in the advertised price: the visit to the local Stately Home - often shown round by the people who own it; trips out for pub lunches or to theatres; romantic moorland, coastal villages and country fetes - whatever is typical of the area. Everything you do is as a guest of the people who actually live there. Your accommodation will be of the highest quality, whether in thatched cottage, old Rectory or modern bungalow: we try to ensure you stay with people of similar interests to your own. There are no coach trips, no hassle. You come as a visitor and leave as a friend, knowing that your Parish Holiday has helped towards building the very community whose life you have been privileged to share.

The 1999 Brochure offers this opportunity in some of Britain’s loveliest counties, made familiar by popular TV series and movies. In romantic western Cornwall there are the ancient parishes of Ladock, St Enoder and St Dominick; in the south east are Temple Ewell and Ash near the famous white cliffs of Dover; to the North , in Bronte Country, is Dobcross with Scouthead; in the Midlands, Bromsgrove; further south, in the ancient heart of England are Amport in Hampshire and Potterne in Wiltshire. Flanked by the Welsh Mountains, is Cheadle Hulme in Cheshire, and Berkeley in Gloucestershire boasts one of the most romantic Castles in all the British Isles. A new Brochure is published every October - look for next year’s fresh locations in addition to many well tried favourites!

A word for Parishes in England and Wales

If your Church has a capital building project involving restoration, extension or repair and would like to consider hosting Parish Holiday visitors, we would like to hear from you.
